Death Spiral 2: A World-Jumping Progression Fantasy

A different sort of Scottish diaspora…Sam's used to being an exile. First with the bad luck to fall into a fantasy world as a kid and second with the worse luck to get punted back to Glasgow with no hope of return.A decade later, haunted by the memory of magic and his lost love worlds away, his coping mechanism has always been to smash things for a living, drink with his best mate, rinse, and repeat. But when a whisper of familiar magic weaves into his Earth life unexpectedly and leads him to a rift to a strange world, Sam seizes his one chance to make it dive into the unknown and claw his way through every monster the outer realms put between him and his long-lost soulmate.Welcome to the universe's arena, where no one cares if you live or die...Sam and Ìbhri have escaped the dead world of Alerosh, and Sam's days of travelling alone have dwindled. With the six-legged, six-eyed, nine-tailed alien archivist beside him, the unlikely pair find themselves in a vast forest on a strange new planet.Magic may be more abundant in this world than their last, but it doesn't take long before they realise that in the eerie silence of a bizarrely empty forest, danger lurks in the unnatural quiet. No animals. No insects. Nothing but trees and dreams that haunt their sleep, leaving them to wake swaddled in vines. The only way for Sam to someday make it home is to open another rift, but with magic still scarce, he and Ìbhri will have to fight for every advance...and despite the seeming lack of life, it quickly becomes apparent that they are not alone. They're being hunted.
